Towards the end of 2013 we surveyed our Year 7 students around the use of iPads in their classes. English featured as one of the subjects where the iPad was used least which was somewhat of a surprise.
The survey was taken prior to this unit being implemented. Created by Carolyn Lewis it is a great example of the R in SAMR. This is a complete redefinition of a task via the technology available.
This is one of the reasons I am such a big fan of the iPad. One device can do everything rather than having to use a phone/laptop combination to complete this type of task.
The iPad has also made Carolyn and her fellow English teachers think carefully about what they are doing in their English classes and how they can engage their students in new and innovative ways.
